Spell Steps
Step 1: Unwanted energies cling to mess and clutter. Prepare your space by taking some time to physically clean the area you wish to house your sanctuary. Open the windows to let fresh air in and clear the room of stagnant energy.
Step 2: When you feel the area you will be using is thoroughly cleaned, continue with the next step in preparing the space by laying down a cloth for your sanctuary if you so choose, or lighting incense to raise the vibrations of the space. This step is deeply personal and it is likely that no to people will have the same method. Once the space is prepared for your sanctuary, refrain from placing mundane items on it as it is a space reserved for that which is sacred.
Step 3: Take your physical representations that you have chosen and arrange them on your space according to your liking, whether that be in a circle, on the designated corners of your space or in any other way you see fit. Go ahead and place these symbols now, as we are building the energetic momentum of this quest. The ultimate goal is to have the energies flow together in order to help create the reality we are working towards.
Step 4: Tell yourself and the universe, what each symbol means See it as a shimmering sigil in the air above the representation. Feel the energy it represents coming from it. Do this for all four symbols. This simple repetitive act creates the mental and energetic link you will need for the next phase.
Step 5: One of the most basic representation we see of the sanctuary is light. For the weary traveler, it was the light of the inn, for the religious it is the light of the candles at their place of worship. Our goal here is to take this idea and use it to tie together our symbols. Before you retire for the night take a few quiet moments, take a candle and place it in the center of your sanctuary set up. Light it and focus on the feeling of light residing in your sanctuary. It welcomes you, beckons you to relax and let go of stresses from this day.
Step 6: Now is the time to awaken the energies within the symbols you have chosen. Take one of the symbols in your hands and visualize the energy it represents coming off it. Say these or similar words: “I charge you, symbol of ________ to bring your powers of ______ forth to this space. You are connected to this space in order to create a sanctuary and keep out all negative forces.” Visualize the symbol chosen and realize that its powers have been called through its qualities, and awoken to this space. Hold the image of its energy shining and swirling around your sanctuary for 11 seconds. You may now move onto your next symbol and proceed until you have done this for all four.
Step 7: Now visualize the four symbols creating the pillars of your sanctuary, see the energies flowing into the next, until the four are flowing together. Once you have this image secure it in your mind. Say this or similar words; “I dedicate this space as my personal sanctuary. This space is one I can turn to for protection, wisdom and serenity when life becomes chaotic and stressful. The pillars stand strong and will not break. Their energies together keep out all that does not serve. As above, So below, So let it be.” Hold the visualization for 11 seconds, and afterwards know it is done, and that your sanctuary is ready when you need it.
