Magickal Attitude Adjustment

This spell calls on one of the elements to overcome an attitude that might be holding you back from achieving a goal.

Difficulty Level: Easy
Time: 30 minutes

Materials:

  • Photo or image that reminds you of the attitude you wish to clear or improve
  • Representation of the element you wish to work with in this instance
  • Paper and pen for written statement
  • Extra tools such as candles, wands, cauldron are optional

Spell Steps

Step 1: We can experience frustration when a spell doesn’t seem to be working. We might not be aware of how we might be preventing the outcome we desire. This first step requires some time to meditate about what you are trying to accomplish and list reasons that might be preventing it from coming into reality. An example might include hoping for more money, but upon examination, you might discover you don’t really believe you deserve more money. That feeling could be preventing your spells or rituals from working. The first step is to brainstorm and try to zero in on one attitude that you’d like to improve or clear.

Step 2: Once you have an attitude or belief in mind, try to find some images that remind you of how this attitude is holding you back. Example: If anger is blocking a type of healing you want, gather up some images that look and feel like the energy of anger.

Step 3: Decide which element to work with for this spell. As you clear or improve the energy of the targeted attitude, you’ll be asking for the assistance from one of the elements, earth, air, fire, or water. Determine which element feels right for this task. Example: You want to cleanse yourself of negative emotions regarding your body. You may choose to use the element of water to wash those feelings down the drain. A cleansing bath could be your choice.

Step 4: On a piece of paper, write down a statement that describes what you hope to accomplish in this spell. Example: I want to eliminate my fear of poverty so that I can allow for abundance in my life.

Step 5: Under that main statement, add a couple of specific examples that you feel would help. Examples: Every day, I’ll make sure to watch an inspiring video about abundance so that I can begin to resonate with different vibrations. Every day, I’ll reinforce this spell with a short visualization before sleep.

Step 6: Find a representation of the element you will be using. Examples: A stone, crystal, dish of salt or soil for earth. A chalice, cup of water, or seashell for water. Incense, aromatherapy, or a wand for air. A candle, image of a flame, or sitting by a fireplace for fire.

Step 7: Once you have your statements, your attitude images, and your elemental representation, set a time where you can be alone for 10 to 15 minutes and bring these items with you into that space.

Step 8: Use any additional tools that help you attract the essence of magick. Candles, incense, or magickal tools.

Step 9: Once you’re settled in your chosen space. Bring out the images that represent the attitude. Take a few moments to feel what this attitude is like. It won’t be pleasant, but that’s okay. You want to be honest about the feelings and use your sensitivity to them to complete the spell.

Step 10: After a few moments, focus on the item you’ve chosen to represent the element of your choice. Feel how this element could help you shift away from the negative attitude. Examples: Water can cleanse, refresh, or nourish. Earth can bury and rebuild with new soil. Air can shift mental states and communications. Fire can burn through the old and bring light to the situation. These are just a few examples. Find the way that your chosen element can help reinforce your goals with regards to bringing on an attitude change.

Step 11: Focus on the strength of the element as you read the statements you’ve prepared. It’s best to read them out loud, but if that isn’t possible, whisper them to yourself.

Step 12: In your own words, ask the energies of the element to assist you in cleansing, clearing, dispersing, etc. the negativity associated with your current attitude. Imagine the element coming to life and joining with you in some way that will help with this process. Example: A healing pond forms and takes you into it’s soothing waters. A magickal breeze arises and brings new information into your consciousness.

Step 13: Hold the image of the element working with you in the etheric planes for as long as you can.

Step 14: As the imagery fades, thank the element for its willingness to be with you on this journey.

Step 15: Take the paper with your statements on it and put it together with the image or representation of the element. As you place them somewhere together state something like the following: Together we will alter my attitude according to the highest good so that I might fulfill my highest destiny and purpose.

Step 16: Take the images of the attitude itself and destroy them in a way that utilizes your chosen element. For example: Burn the images if you are working with fire. Tear them up and scatter the pieces in the wind if you’re working with air. Bundle it up and release the papers into a river or body of water if working with water. Bury them or use the paper as compost if working with soil.

Step 17: Ground the visualization by enjoying your chosen element. Work in the garden for a few minutes, take a relaxing bath or swim, enjoy a walk the open air, or gaze into a fire.

Step 18: Release your spell and allow the element to work within your life. Notice any shifts occurring and take notes in your journal.

Step 19: Use short visualizations before sleep to reinforce your connection to the element assisting you.

Step 20: In 7 days, reassess your situation and see if you notice any attitude adjustment. When you do recognize a significant shift, you’ll be better prepared to use another spell to achieve your goal or manifestation once again.

Saturday is ruled by Saturn, sometimes a tough task-master. Saturn energy helps us see the truth. This accuracy can help determine the underlying causes affecting your situation. Any day will work according to the energy you wish to harness.

Notes

This is a spell designed to enhance healing of a specific area of the body. It works well with injuries or localized problems.

This is a “stepping-stone” spell as it is best used as part of an overall alchemical process. And it might have to be used repeatedly in some form before a significant change is accomplished.

By using this spell, practitioners can become more highly attuned to blocks and other types of interference affecting their work. It can be alternated with other spells also designed to help with clarity.

Spell Steps


Step 1: Take some time to decide what you want to accomplish with this spell. Keep it simple and focused for best results. Example: I want to feel more supportive of my partner.

Step 2: Decide what recipe you’ll be creating and gather the regular ingredients needed to complete the recipe.

Step 3: Cook your recipe according to the directions. As the food is being prepared, hold your purpose in your mind as best as you can.

Step 4: Just before completing the recipe, add a pinch of the specific spices you’ve chosen to direct your intentions towards the goal of your spell. Example: Basil for happiness, love, and peace.

Step 5: As you add each pinch of spice, direct the path of the spell in your own words. Example: I add this element to my creation in order to bring forth the energy contained within. As I partake of this food (or drink), these chosen ingredients will enhance my ability to show more support for my partner, so let the elements of this concoction be absorbed within my essence.

Step 6: Consume your finished creation knowing that you have invited the energies of the spices into your energy field where they can share their natural powers with you.

The Moon Phases, and Day of the Week will depend upon your purpose. Use waxing phases for desires that will be helped through expansion. Use waning phases for desires helped through clearing and reducing.

As for the Day of the Week, any day will work. To add potency to your cooking, choose a day that corresponds most closely with the energy behind your desire.

Day Options

Monday is associated with the Moon and it’s reflective qualities.
Tuesday is ruled by Ares, a god of passion and war.
Wednesday is excellent for communication purposes.
Thursday brings the luck and expansive qualities of Jupiter.
Friday is ruled by Venus and can be helpful for desires that involve love or money.
Saturday, ruled by Saturn, helps with serious issues and caution.
Sunday, ruled by the Sun, is a central and warming energy.

Feel free to do your own research and add a pinch of any herb or spice that resonates with your intention.

Alterations

You can adjust this basic spell to fit any of your recipes. Remember, it only takes a very small pinch of a spice to infuse your recipe with the energy of that spice. You don’t need to be concerned that a particular spice will affect the overall flavor, as you can add a very small amount and still achieve your goal.

It’s also possible to add steps to increase the potency of the spell.

For example, you may choose to use a spoon for stirring, or a knife for cutting that you have previously charged and set aside as a magickal tool.
You might choose to create something cold if your spell would be enhanced by cooling energies. Or, you might create something hot if warm elements would help your intention come to pass.

Each time you add an additional component to the spell, you’ll strengthen the subconscious and symbolic messages associated with your spell and that will help you remain focused on your goal.
